National Automotive Higher Institute Organizes an Open Day

15th February 2017, Muscat – The National Automotive Higher Institute organized the Open Day under the patronage of Mr. Maqbool Ali Sultan, The Chairman to attract the private organizations in the automotive sector to publicize the academic and vocational programmes it offers in line with the modern technologies in the sector. A visual presentation in the establishment of the Institute and what challenges and obstacles accompanied the emergence of the idea. The process started with the preparation of feasibility studies which concluded the need to establish an educational and training institution to improve national competencies in the automotive sector. The presentation further included a presentation on the efficiency rates around the world and Oman in particular, and the target groups for training.

The open day was attended by Chairman of the Intersectoral Committee to increase the Omanization rates at the Automotive Sector and the Chief Executive Officer of Oman Society for Petroleum (OPAL).

Major achievements accomplished by the institute covering licenses, memorandums of understanding and agreements were presented. A stress highlighted the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the national transport company "Mawasalat." The presentation was concluded by a showcase of the joint partnership between the Institute and the private sector organizations to overcome challenges related to Omanization and training issues. Later, a visual presentation was presented to cover Institute’s mission, vision and Goals along with the offered programmes with more emphasis on competency based programmes, short courses and academic affiliation with internationally recognized institutions.

A video showing the institute's achievements during its first year of establishment up to the date to this day was viewed. The Open Day programme included an introductory tour to the Institute campus and its affiliated workshop.

In conclusion, Mr. Hussein Jawad, Chairman of the Intersectoral Committee for Omanization of the Automotive Sector, and Musalim Al Manthri, Director of Oman Society for Petroleum (OPAL) praised the capabilities of the Institute to implement the vision of the Committee by providing the sectors with professional qualifications in the field of automotive. They also stressed, during their visit, on the cooperation between the Institute and the concerned organizations for training opportunities in accordance with the great development that accompanied the Institute in a short period, Skills to meet the level of higher education standards the necessity to convert the Institute to the level of college.

Similarly, participants expressed their appreciation for the efforts made in the provision of specialized programmes in the automotive sector to qualify the national workforce.
